Free & Reduced Tickets

Learn who is eligible for free or discounted admission and how to book these tickets.

The Museu Picasso offers free and reduced-price admission to a wide range of visitors. It's important to note that even for free admission, a timed-entry ticket must be booked online in advance. See our opening hours page for details on the free Thursday and Sunday slots.

Eligibility for Free Admission

    • General Free Times: Thursdays from 4:00 PM and the first Sunday of every month.
    • Age: Visitors under 18 years of age.
    • Disability: Visitors with a recognized disability and one companion.
    • Professional: ICOM members and accredited teachers.
    • Students: University students with valid ID.

How to Book Free or Reduced Tickets

Booking is mandatory for everyone, including those eligible for free entry.

For the free Thursday and first Sunday slots, tickets are made available online exactly four days in advance. They are in high demand and are often fully booked within hours of release. For other categories (e.g., under 18s, students), you can select the appropriate free or reduced ticket type during the regular online booking process.

Important: You must bring valid proof of eligibility (e.g., ID card with date of birth, student card, disability card) with you on the day of your visit. Staff will check documentation at the entrance.

Free & Reduced Tickets FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to queue if I have a free ticket?
No. As long as you have booked a timed-entry slot online, you can go directly to the entrance at your designated time and skip the ticket-buying queue.
What happens if I forget my proof of eligibility?
You may be required to purchase a full-price ticket if you cannot provide valid documentation for your free or reduced-price ticket.
Is the Barcelona Card or Articket worth it?
If you plan to visit several museums, these passes can offer great value. The Articket (€38) includes entry to six major art museums, while the Barcelona Card includes the Picasso Museum plus many other attractions and free public transport.
